Go baby, go, go....

OK, I did it! I put on my running gear and I actually did it. I dragged out my Adidas clima-cool shorts and top with the reflective stripes - I figured that looking like a serious runner can only help with the mental attitude, right? And I found my runners wa-a-ay back under the bed, amongst the dust bunnies. I think the last time I wore them was in May. Oh. Really? It's been that long?

And my podiatrist would be happy - I even wore my orthotics. Only because they were in my shoes already, mind you - I hate those things.

I got to the bit where your lungs start to fight against you mighty quickly - now, there's a sign of my lack of fitness. But at least I know from experience that the "Oh my God, my lungs are going to explode!" feeling only lasts a short time and you just have to push through it.

So it was only about 2kms and it was a snail's pace 16 minutes or so, but still, it's a start. I did pick up the speed at one point, when I spotted a group of about 7 or 8 guys standing around in a front yard up ahead.....Well, you don't want to be running embarrassingly slowly when there's an audience, do you? Even if they're total strangers. A girl has to have standards.

Think I'll find me a fun run to train up for. Just a nice 5 k-er. Maybe the running bug will bite me again. *goes off to search for running events*

Oh yeah, I had Garbage playing on my MP3 player. Hence the title.
