One thing leads to another

I'm tackling the giant cleanup job by the one job per day method. Which, obviously, is where you complete one job each day. That way I can still get some work done, and the big jobs can be left for the weekend, when I have more time and also some assistance from my family.

So I decided that this afternoon's job would be to clean the front windows - our agent is threatening to come by and photograph the outside of the house on Monday (EEEK!), so I thought I probably should wash off the several years' worth of grime first. That seemed like a nice simple job. Not so.

To wash the windows, you need to remove the flyscreens. To do that, you have to remove the sliding window panes first. Then you put back the windows to wash them. Then you realise that the curtains are looking dingey(sp?), so you wash the sheers and vacuum the drapes. Next, squeegee the outside of the windows (no hoses, we're on water restrictions!), then Windex the inside. Decide that the frames and brick sills need a good wash too, so do those. Clean the flyscreens. Remove the windows again to put back the flyscreens and replace windows. Take dry curtains off the line, drag out sewing machine for some quick repairs where you ripped the damn things getting them down. Re-hang the heavy drapes. Realise you missed a hook at the other end, and start again.Vacuum the floor where you made a mess with all the dust and cobwebs.

There, all done. And it only took 3 hours.

Just remember it might bump the price up by a few $$$ - that's got to be a great motivation :)

That is so true Kek, sounds like my home! Hope you get a good price for it after all that effort you'll deserve it.

And now...... you can come over here and do mine! Just think what the next job will be, and all the 'extra' things you end up having to do! It's never that straight forward is it? Windows have got to be the worst job for sure! maybe that's why I ain't done mine in a year? I am going to pretend I didn't for even ONE second think "I should do mine"....

Only a year, Chris? I'm sure it's at least 4 years since I did mine.

What? I never said I was a good housekeeper....

Anyway, after all that, I de-cobwebbed the front of the house (with the broom this time), washed the roller door on the carport, and then for some reason decided to clean the air conditioning vents in the ceiling.

My neck and shoulders are now KILLING me! No more computer time for me tonight. I think I need to go lay down. Maybe with a glass of red.

I've been threatening to wash my windows, but after reading that I think they look okay =0p

Great work on the windows. I can't wait to lug my vaccuum cleaner outside to see the neighbor's reaction! =D

Good for you, I am inspired.... to do NOTHING ... I got a new gym routine yesterday.... god I'm sore all over! Just when you think you are on top of it, some smart arse personal trainer comes along and changes it all.... oh my god, lunges holding onto weights! My butt and legs are killing me ! Hope you don't overdo it over the weekend, have a good one!
