Le Crush

I have had the most ridiculous crush on TV chef Gabriel Gate since....well, since as long as I can remember. It must be 30 years. I used to watch his show and sigh longingly, not over the food, but over his charming smile and especially over his French accent. Seriously, he could look like a warthog - all he'd have to do is speak to me and I'd melt....

So a couple of weeks ago I happened to make a trip to Westfield at Doncaster to buy my sister a birthday present. I was meandering along, looking at this and that, and turned a corner to find myself practically face to face with my cordon-bleu cutie-pie. He was setting up to do some sort of cooking demo or something. I stopped, stared, clutched my companion's arm and tried to say "There's Gabriel Gate" but what came out was "Ooh ug bababoo erg". I'm sure she thought I was having a stroke.

So, did I walk over and say hi? ...Not on your life! I stood there with my mouth open for about thirty seconds, then ran away like a scared schoolgirl.

I am an idiot.

I'll just have to be satisfied with tuning into the nightly SBS broadcast of Le Tour for the next three weeks and watching his Gallic Gorgeousness doing the Taste le Tour food segment. *sigh*

Oh yeah - le Tour? Cadel came fifth in the first stage. Nice job.

I can't believe you passed up on the opportunity to speak to your crush!!! I hope you get the opportunity again one day.

Is he as cute in real life as he voice portrays?

It's the accent I'm sure! A number of years ago I waitressed at a cafe with a French owner/chef. He would just make you melt with that soft rolling accent- drools a bit- I'm not sure what he actually said but it didn't seem to matter at the time!!

OMG I was exactly the same at Supanova yesterday. Richard Hatch (my crush) was just sitting there and it was my ONLY chance EVER to talk to him and I was too chicken. This is also why I can't get a date. I can never talk to the guys I like :(
