Share your weirdness

The other day, my husband opened the cutlery drawer and rummaged for a spoon for his cereal. It seems all the dessert spoons were in the dishwasher, so he grabbed a soup spoon and to my absolute horror, sat down and ate his cereal with it.

I cannot eat cereal or dessert with a soup spoon (or soup with a dessert spoon). I just CAN'T. It's wrong. I would get the right utensil out of the dishwasher and wash and dry it if need be. And The Baby has exactly the same weird spoon obsession.

Neither of us thinks it's weird, but Bike Boy thinks we're both nuts.

So I'm wondering ....what weird little habits or phobias do other people have? Anyone care to share?

Ever since I saw 'Monsters Ball' I started eating ice cream with a plastic spoon (if you've seen the movie you'll understand). Then it was yoghurt and anything sweet. Now the only thing I eat with a metal spoon is soup or my morning oats. I hate the taste of the metal now. Or it could just be my imagination...

Hey kek
I can't have my food touching! for example, spag bol can't be pasta underneath bol on top has to be on each side of the plate. peas aren't good as the little fuckers get everywhere, touching everything!
Basically have to have a small gap between foods on plate.
Used to have a plate with compartments, that was heaven.
OK stop laughing!!

This isn't a food thing, but I used to have a thing where when I hung the clothes out on the line, if an item needed two or more pegs they needed to be the same colour! How anal was I?!

I think I got it from my grandmother. She did/does the same the thing!

Been really enjoying your blog lately Kek :D

I put ice cubes in my hot oatmeal because I don't like that it's so hot! It becomes an oatmeal soup of sorts, and I drink the soup first before getting to the good part ;)

I'm with you on the spoon thing (but I will eat dessert with a teaspoon because it lasts longer). I went to the US once and they used teaspoons for everything, except stirring coffee then they gave you sticks!

I also have my special bowls -- only breakfast can be eaten out of the breakfast bowl etc. My sister has square bowls and they freak me out.

OH MY GOD..........I too have a thing with utensils. I actually bring my own fork and knife with me to restaurants. I HATE eating off huge flatware. I know, very strange. My fiancé doesn't think it strange anymore when I whip out my fruit knife to cut up my sushi..lol...glad to hear I'm not the only one:)

I have egg issues. For some reason, I get all squicked out by eggs out of the shell. I'm totally fine with pasteurized egg product. Try getting whites out of fresh eggs and it's not good. It's a viscosity thing and goes way back to a traumatic incident of stomach flu when I was in elementary school.

I hate to hear people eating. Can't handle crackers or chips.

I have heaps more but can't remember them now - my husband probably could. I think I drive him mad - lol.

I can't stand fruit in my cottage cheese...yucky! And I'm not fond of fruity cream cheese either.
And pineapple on pizza major yucko! And I can't drink water out of a plastic cup...though out of a plastic bottle is ok (though I know I shouldn't be doing that anymore and just haven't got around to buying the "safe" kind!)...as long as it has a spout.....I hate drinking water out of a bottle without a spout-and I really hate if I have to take my vitamins without my water bottle spout! It's almost impossible!

I can't eat anything that still looks like an animal - eg octopus(calamari is fine), fish with the head on, things like that. Also when I eat my salad or veggies it's only one type at a time on the fork. Oh, last one, I will never use soap sitting on the sink of a public bathroom, that's just gross! I'm sure there are more....

I hate the white stringy bits on mandarin's and oranges. I have to peel them off completely. I also hate 'dirty' food, say if an avocado has gone a bit brown or a blemish on a banana or piece of fruit - it all freaks me out. Don't get me started of meat that looks like it should still be 'mooing'!

Hmmm I think I must be the only one who HATES 'RULES'! I keep telling my partner - drop the rules and you will be so much happier!
Guess it's just me ;)
