Action stations!

There are a few things I'd like to achieve this year, but instead of listing specific goals, which I may or may not hit, I'm going to commit to some actions designed to propel me in the right direction. Some are health and fitness related, others something else altogether. Anyway, here they are:

1. I'll be jumping aboard Liz's January Jumpstart recipe revolution challenge. For the month ahead, I'll be creating or just trying five new recipes this month and blogging them over on my too-neglected Good Food site. After that, I'll aim for at least two recipes a month for the rest of the year. Thanks for the prod, Liz (has it really been six months since I posted a new recipe? Ye gods!).

2. Training-wise, I'm simply going to commit to moving my butt six days a week. There will be weight training and cardio and stretching, but I'm not committing to any specific regime at this point, because right now, I need to work within the limits of my injuries. I will be reviewing things monthly though, and reporting here on progress. I expect to be able to turn up the heat over the coming months, but for now there's a lot of walking and stretching and moderate activity on the agenda.

3. Nutrition has improved a lot, but there's still plenty of wiggle room in that department. So I'm going to knuckle down and log my food for this month to make sure I'm heading in the direction I want to be going. Don't worry; I will not be posting my daily meals or calorie counts or any of the tedious details here. It's just between me and Calorie King.

4. My business needs a makeover. I took a bit of a break during the second half of last year, because things had got seriously off-balance in my life. I dropped clients left, right and centre and grabbed some time back for myself. Now I'm ready to get things up and running again, but I still need to work out the finer details. My commitment here is a short-term one: By the end of January, I will come up with a plan for how I'm going to do this thing and still maintain my balance. Then I'll set a new goal for February and take things from there.

5. Now that I have a fabulous new camera, I need to make good use of it, not to mention learn all the ins and outs of its many, many functions. To that end, I'm going to take photos at least weekly (I'd like to say daily, but I doubt I'd stick to it for the whole year). I'll be posting some of them, either on my blogs, or over on Facebook. I'll also aim to get my own face in a photo at least monthly... I have thousands of photos of my family, but I'm missing from most of them.

That's it. It may be a bit different to my usual January goal-setting, but I'm feeling positive about it all. What's everybody else got in mind?

I've concluded that this is the Year of the Writer. So I've got my writing related goals set for the first two months. Working out fitness goals next. :) I made good progress in my mini fitness challenge. How'd you do?
