Commenting issues

I've just uninstalled the Intense Debate commenting system from this blog. Although it's a good system, it isn't workable when Blogger keep messing around with their interface and causing glitches with my comments.

Once again today, I've had comments somehow being allowed through from Blogger's own comments system, even though I have those comments switched off. If I change my settings in order to display those wayward comments, I lose any other comments left via Intense debate. *sigh*

The thing I really liked about Intense Debate was that it used Akismet, so spam was completely a non-issue. Now I'll be back to deleting numerous spam posts daily. Bleurgh. And no, I will not be switching on word verification. If I have to jump through hoops in order to leave a comment on someone's blog, I'm unlikely to bother, and I know many people feel the same.

Unfortunately, I've now lost every single comment that was left over the past few months, using Intense Debate.  :(  Also? Wordpress users - from now on you're going to have to use a Google account to comment, or log in via OpenID.

Fingers crossed this works smoothly from now on.

I think blogger have done something about their spam problem. I've had none since switching to their threaded commenting system. So.. hoping it's the same for you!

Good theory, except that threaded commenting won't work on my customised template. It's enabled, but the old comments system still shows up. I suspect it may be the Nuffnang code in the post template that's causing problems. :(

As soon as I can afford to pay for another professional design, I'm moving to Wordpress. Need to get my moneys worth out of this one first.
