Winter sucks - but sometimes not so much

The billabong near our place a couple of Sundays ago. Thick fog, freezing cold.

Same spot yesterday. Brilliant sunshine - and where did those houses come from??
Kinglake ranges in the distance. Mt Disappointment to the left. (Disappointing because it's only 760m high, perhaps?)

A dose of sunshine and a visit with the local birdlife is always uplifting. Today I had the company of swans, coots, egrets, cockatoos, corellas, red-rumped parrots and a lone pied cormorant on my walk.

Must. Learn. More. About. Local. Birds.

Beautiful pics Kek! What wonderful views you have on your walk. Yes, winter sucks, but there are some things to be loved. :)

That's so pretty! I don't suppose you ever get snow though... Has there ever been snow in Melbourne?

It regularly snows in the hills around us, but not often in the city or suburbs though. Thankfully, I've only seen it here twice in my lifetime. Snow is WAY too cold and wet for my liking.

Nice photos. When I was married and we lived in a semi rural area...I had to buy a copy of 'What Bird is That?' just to keep track of the birds that would come to our yard. We used to have great fun trying to identify them all. We had half acre with lots of mature gums and when I stuck in a flower bed with a bird bath in the middle...it was bird mayhem!

Love the birds, Frankie. I know a few... yesterday I spotted the local wedge-tail eagles, awesome!
